How to register for CA Intermediate course ?

CA Intermediate Registration 2021 :  

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has started with the registration for CA intermediate 2021 with the Board of studies (BoS). A candidate has to register for the intermediate course by filling the online registration form with payment of the prescribed registration fee available on the ICAI website. Candidates need to register themselves by submitting their email id and mobile number and create a log in. CA intermediate exam is conducted twice a year in the month of May and November. CA intermediate registration is opened throughout the year.

Candidates who passed 10 + 2 and CA Foundation 

CA Intermediate is a second level exam of a CA Course. Candidates who passed 10 + 2 and CA Foundation courses are eligible to register for CA Intermediate. Students can enroll for CA Final exams after clearing both the groups of the CA Intermediate and Articleship. To be eligible for appearing in CA Intermediate 2021 in either May or November, candidates are required to register eight months in prior. Candidates are advised to go through the eligibility criteria before registering for CA intermediate exam. To stay updated with the registration process, follow the below-given schedule.

Eligibility Criteria for CA Intermediate Course - 

Criteria 1: Clearing 1st Level of CA - (CA Foundation)
  1. By Clearing CA Foundation \ CPT Exam as per the new syllabus of ICAI or CPT Exam as per the old syllabus
Criteria 2: Direct Entry to CA Intermediate
  1. If a student is a commerce graduate/post-graduate and has scored a minimum of 55% marks in the exam.
  2. If the student is a non-commerce graduate/post-graduate and has scored a minimum of 60% marks in the exam
  3. If a Candidate is Qualified the CS Executive of Company Secretaries of India
CRITERIA 1  : - 

Mandatory documents required for CA Intermediate registration -

  1. Attested copy of the mark sheet of Class 12th.
  2. Mark sheet of CA Foundation or CPT.
  3. One Recent color photograph
  4. Proof of Nationality ( If the candidate is a Foreigner )
  5. Proof of special category certificate i.e, SC/ST, OBC, Differently abled.

Step to Register for CA Intermediate - 

Step: 1 

Go to click here, and enter your username and password to log in to your self-service portal. If you don’t have your credentials you need to create your account at click here.



Step: 2

Click on “Click Here to access the Student SSP Portal” 


Step: 3

Click on the "student cycle"


Step: 4 

Click on “Intermediate through PE1/CPT/Foundation”. 
CA students who have not cleared CA Foundation but have passed graduation or CS Executive or CMA Executive are eligible for direct entry route and should click Intermediate ‘Direct Entry’ for Existing Students.


Step: 5

Personal details will be filled automatically. Verify the details and click on Save and Next. After click on next, you need to enter your details of Qualification.


Step: 6

After Uploading the documents provide the below details. 


Step: 7 

Click on "Save and Next"


Step: 8

Upload your Photo/ Signature. The image must be of size up to 100KB. The maximum file size for the images is 21 cm in width and 27 cm in length. Only scanned copies of jpg/jpeg format are allowed. Click on Generate OTP after providing all the Mandatory Details.


Step: 9 

You will receive the OTP on your mobile number. Your verification link will be sent to your concerned Email ID. Then you will receive an OTP for validation.


Step: 10

After receiving OTP, enter it and complete your log in and validation process, and click on the submit button to receive your OTP.


Step: 11

You will be redirected to the payment page of ICAI. Choose any one of the payment modes available to pay the fees and complete the process.
After the successful filling of the registration form and the successful payment, the system will generate a form. Students are required to save it and take its print out and within 7 days submit the form to the concerned regional office after duly signed by the candidate along with the following documents.


CRITERIA 2 : -

Direct Entry to CA after your Graduation. 

Direct Entry Route refers to direct entry in the Chartered Accountancy course without appearing for the CA Foundation. ICAI has implemented the Direct Entry Scheme 1st Aug 2012 according to which students can directly enroll themselves for the  CA Intermediate Course.

Eligibility Criteria for Direct Entry Scheme -

  1. If a student is a commerce graduate/post-graduate and has scored a minimum of 55% marks in the exam.
  2. If the student is a non-commerce graduate/post-graduate and has scored a minimum of 60% marks in the exam.
  3. If a Candidate is Qualified the CS Executive of Company Secretaries of India or Institue of Cost Accountants of India.

Mandatory documents required for Direct Entry Scheme -

  1. Candidates have to submit an attested copy of graduation or post-graduation mark sheet
  2. Candidates have to submit the mark sheet of the CS Executive exam from ICSI
  3. One Recent color photograph
  4. Proof of Nationality ( If the candidate is a Foreigner )
  5. Proof of special category certificate i.e, SC/ST, OBC, Differently abled.

Procedure to Register for CA Intermediate for Graduates and Post Graduates - 

Procedure 1 -
Graduates and Post Graduates who has secured a minimum of 55% or Minimum of 60% marks in the commerce stream can enroll for CA Intermediate through direct entry route  and complete the registration with ICAI

Procedure 2 -
Complete four weeks of ICITSS - Orientation Program and Information Technology 

Procedure 3-
Register for three years of articleship training for single or both groups of CA Intermediate and complete 9months of Articleship prior to the exams

Procedure to Register for CA Intermediate for Passed students of ICSI and ICWA - 

Procedure 1 - 
The candidates who have been qualified the Intermediate level of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India can register directly for the CA Intermediate level.

Procedure 2 - 
After registration is done, Candidates have to undergo 8 months of the study period to appear in CA Intermediate Exams.

Procedure 3 -
Registration for the CA Intermediate for such Candidates will be the same as normal route Candidates.

Procedure 4 -
Register for three years of articleship training for single or both groups of CA Intermediate

Procedure 5 -
Enroll for CA Final after qualifying both the groups of CA Intermediate

Procedure 6 -
Candidates can appear for CA Final Exam during the last six month of Articleship training 

Complete 9 months of practical training - 
  1. Qualify both the groups of CA Intermediate 
  2. Register for CA Final after qualifying both the group of Intermediate
  3. Four weeks of AICITSS during the Practical training before appearing for the final exam 
  4. Complete the practical training successfully 
  5. Qualify both the groups of CA Final

Duration of this Direct Entry Course - 

  1. Once the candidates have been registered for the direct entry scheme, they have 1 year for the exam.
  2. Candidates take 8 month study period after registering for the CA direct entry scheme.
  3. Candidates need to go for 4 weeks of ICITSS training and 9 months of articleship training before the examinations.
